82' 115 inline 6 idle speed/adjustment?

What is the correct idle speed for this engine? And how do you adjust it? It's currently idling at 650rpm and that seems a bit slow. It goes dead sometimes when shifting into gear. Also what is the safe cruising rpm range? The motor is on a 24' pontoon and the linkage needs adjusting. It's only letting me get 3600rpm now at WOT. Is this too low and going to cause a meltdown?

Full throttle RPM should be around 5300 / 5500 rpm on one of those.----Possibly too much pitch on the prop.------Idle would be around 800 rpm in nuetral and 650 in gear.------Before you start adjusting do a compression test.----Then make sure there is spark on all 6 that will jump a gap of 3/8" with ease.---------Then again it could be as simple as opening the lowspeed mixture needle 1/8 turn each.--------Or a problem with the lower crankshaft oil seals.

Compression is all close to 120. Motor doesn't seem to be in a bind at WOT i think the cables just weren't adjusted after PO had engine swapped. It's like I need more throttle. Ran it for first time this weekend for several hours on the lake. Has a rough idle and likes to go dead when shifting. And stumbles a bit at first bit of throttle at times. Maybe low speed jets clogged?

If your adjusting on a hose set the idle rpm at 1000rpm as when you drop in water it will be about 800-900rpm

Only 3600 rpms at WOT ?

EVERY ​ cylinder MUST be chacked for spark. I doubt you are really running on all 6. Use a timing light to check your spark.

Linkage was setup wrong by whoever installed it. Only getting at most 1/3 throttle. Will be adjusting this weekend.
