I noticed at idle in gear that this cam bounces around slightly but not enough to activate it.Is this normal? And when is is the switch suppose to activate?

Re: 81 Cobalt 260 h.p. Shift interupter switch cam.

The switch activates when you shift gears. It works by cutting out fire to the cylinders to reduce the idle when the shift is made. The cam has notches in it (hills and valleys, if you will)that activate the switch. Bouncing of the cam other than minor movement could be an indication of a bad spring or bushing. Are you experiencing a problem or just fishin' for info?
