I recently bought a second hand classic 50 , I think its mid to late 80s. The block has serial numbers 1017-8359 and the outside bracket has 1449 7373 stamped on it and it's an Australian motor , I think the motor is an 83 mod?? It has coil packs for each cylinder.
When I removed the cover I see that a few wires are cut. There is a grey coloured wire that ( Tacho)??
2 light brown wires and a black and yellow wire that is cut.
I did a google search for a manual ,but manuals seem to go till the year 70s, then 90s onwards.
The controller is from another merc and it to has brown wires cut and a black and red wires cut.
Has anyone got a wiring diagram please?

Seloc do a manual from the 60's right up to present day. There's a full wiring diagram in it.

Yep will have to spend the dollars I guess and get one.
One can find a lot of free stuff on the net, but try to find some free info on outboards and you have more chance of winning the state lottery or getting struck by lightning LOL

The manuals are a good investment. They will save you money in the long run.

I have an 85 merc 50. I find the Seloc manual to be sufficient. I got because it was convenient to get. The merc manuals are probably better.

I actually found the Seloc Mariner manual for $10 less than the same Seloc Merc manual. For my year and engine, the merc and mariner were the same engine.

Just ordered a Seloc Manual for 3 and 4 cyl Mercs from the USA today. Hopefully it'll have all I need.
