$800.00 water pump

I have a 1984 Bayliner with a Volvo-Penta AQ125B 4 cyl. f.w.c. engine and a 270 outdrive. I need a new circulator pump and was told by a V-P dealer that it would cost me $850.00 Can that possibly be right? Does anyone know where I might be able to get one a little cheaper?

Look up the part on dougrussell.com and check the price and see if there is a rebuild kit

But i think they want 622.00

I don't know the #, but
there is a rebuild kit.
Need a press, mine was about 35.00
for a volvo circ pump

Note the manufacturer is Volvo (not aftermarket)

The 3587508 number is for a 125A not a B, and it will not work on a B.
The one tommays mentioned at dougrussell is the correct one and it's part number is 3856036 which is the correct number for a 125B.
And yes, the Volvo retail price is 829.84. OUCH!!!!!!
It's actually a kit to retrofit a single pump to several engines. The 125B happens to be one of the expensive ones.

Dave, Since your motor is FWC, can't you use the automotive equivalent? Of course that is if there is an automotive equivalent. If there is, you may be able to get a rebuilt one.

There is no automotive equivalent, the pump is designed for the piping of the heat exchanger. That's what makes them so expensive.

I think its a mechanical seal and bearing.

That is a sea water pump rubber impeller kit (Kit includes impeller and cover gasket only).
He is looking at a circulation pump. 2 completely different types of pumps.

There is a machine shop in Port Clinton Ohio that does warranty work for volvo penta,I'll check and see if they can rebuilt that pump.
