I have this 8.2L 502 that I am swapping the block out on and I just noticed 5 of the hydraulic roller lifters are collapsed (cam, lifters, push-rods, and rockers are all being reused), but I don't recall them being collapsed when I took them out of the engine. No wear to speak of on roller lifter and all lobes of cam measured to spec. I've never had to rebuild any of these lifters...is there anything to it? If I need to replace lifters do I also need to replace cam? If not, are roller lifters out of a 454 the same? What I was hoping to do is get an all new set of 454 roller lifters and keep the cam or just recharge these five if possible.
