I have a 79 Mercury 80HP motor. It runs fair, and I have a couple of questions I hope you will answer for me.

When you give the motor throttle from an idle it will bog. If you hit the choke for a second, the motor will stand up and run like it should. Once it's going, it runs fine. Any ideas?

Where could I look for a power tilt for this motor? It's a heavy son of a gun to lift very often.

Thanks a bunch!

I would clean the carbs and put a kit in them..Classic case of dirty carbs..Check the compression also.

Hello Capt. FU
Most outboard carburators have intermediate ports, or openings just as the throttle plates start to open; these take the place ofthe accelerator pump thats found on 4 strokes. It could be that those holes are stopped up. If the carburator(s) are pulled these holes can be opened up with a very small piece of wire, but what the heck you've got it off might as well do it right and clean the whole thing.
Just a thought
