79 70hp gone replace and sell

I have a 79 70hp omc that has spark and I redid carb. but is running only on one or two cylinders. I not going to spend any more time trying to fix but replace with 2002 mecury 50 hp any know problems with this engine and world should i take my old engine to sell for parts?

also what is the 79 70hp omc weight? buying 50 mercury @199lbs in hope of getting lighter load on rear of boat.

Howdy Ezellbrad. Your 70 weighs 260# with T&T.<br /><br />With the bonnet off you should find a loop for a chain hoist hook.<br /><br />Good luck.<br />Red sky at night. . . <br />JB

Hi ezellbrad --<br /><br />Why not pull the head(s)? you may only need a new head gasket. If so, then at least you could sell it running...
