78 VIP Stalls when put into neutral

My 78 Vip always Stalls when put into neutral which makes docking a little difficult ..
it always starts right back up and runs great other wise. any advise or suggestions would be great.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Does it idle, before ya put it in gear,..??

Yer lower shift cable, Might be nearin' the End...

You probably have a cutout/interupt switch, which cuts the engine off momentarily when you are trying to pull it out of gear, in either direction, that needs to be adjusted. The reason it is out of adjustment may be due to a worn cable, as Bondo said.
