78 Merc inline 1500

I have a Merc inline 1500 with a bad #3 cylinder.<br />I'm talking to a guy about buying his powerhead off of a 1978 Merc inline 900. He thinks that we can pull my head off & his will interchange & bolt back down with the only expected difference being the reduction in power. Will this work ?<br />I'm looking for a cheap way to get running again so I can get back to fishing. What are the chances of this swap taking place without any hitches ?<br />Thanks in advance,<br />JJ
