78 Merc 900 control box options?

I have a 1978 Merc 900 that is using the original control box. I have to believe there is a better designed control box that will work on this engine. Any suggestions?

you can use any newer Merc control box on it .<br />Just use your old harness in it, unless you can find one with the same plug in at the motor.

Thanks for the info. Being a new boater, I wasn't sure what will interchange.
