'78 140hp no trim/tilt up

Hi All,
Have an Evinrude model 140843C...up trim stopped working with no trim motor sound...down trim works fine. There were never any intermittent issues with the up...it just stopped working and hasn't worked since. I bypassed the momentary switch on the dash and still didn't work. Looking for any ideas on easy things to check before I take for service. Thanks, Jeff

If it is a 3 wire motor then the solenoid is used !-----Simple reason is a higher current required for that function.---Down requires a lower current that the switch up front can handle.------Remove wires at the solenoid.-----Put black to ground ,negative on battery.---And blue to positive.---If motor operates then replace the solenoid.
