78 115 manual lift valve.

I have a 1978 115hp model 115899c.

In talking to a mechanic, i/we believe the manual lift valve has gone bad. I didn't ask him, but is there a way to test it?

What's happening is the motor doesn't go up with out me physically lifting on it, when the motor is running, and then when you let off the trim motor, it starts to fall. It keeps going down after it hits the trim cylinders. Tonight I cycled it another time and it started loosing fluid from around the valve. The valve was seated tight.

The snap ring that was supposed to be there to keep the valve from coming all the way out wasn't there.

Try replacing the valve first but you may have other probs.

That's what I'm working on. Just wish I could find a place that doesn't base shipping on purchase prices. Kind of ridiculous to charge $10 average for something that will fit in a padded evelope.
