Hi all, I just bought this boat/motor combo, has power trim too. I was wondering If I got a good deal at $900.00 I havent been able to take it out yet, but it fired up right off the bat, idled fine. Also how fast might this thing go. It is a TriHull I think is the term, 17' I was hoping to use it as a ski boat, and fishing boat! I appreciate any comments Thanks!
Barn

Hi Barn,
I think you got a good deal. The boat will work fine for fishing and sking. Speed is hard to tell, but should be around 40 MPH.
I hope you had a motor muff on when you started it so the rubber water pump impeller was not getting burnt up by running it dry.

...have fun...corm

Hey Corm! Thanks alot for the reply.
I took the boat out for the first time today. "I did use some earmuffs to start it"
But as to the speed, you are right on. Right about 40 I would say. Tried a little fishing, But not a darn bite. 39'F here. I Have never tried fishing in this cold before, So I'm just guessing as what type of bait to use. Evidently the jigs, and lewers were'nt working. hehehe
Any Idea what type of prop that would give me the best performance? The one I had is older, and works well, but I'm sure they have improved these over the years for sking and such.
Thanks again for the time!:Barn

Hi Barn,
I've fished Lake Egypt way down in the southern part of the state and caught a lot of fish this early,Rend wasn't so good to us,but it was colder and real windy that day.
It was fun any way. Buy the end of the month you'll be getting them good.
As for a prop,it is hard to say. I would guess that a 19" pitch would be a good general prop. You really need a tachometer to tell for shure. For sking a one size smaller pitch may work better, just depends on the load in the boat. I like to run mine about 3500-4000 RPM for the best sking performance. This gives me +-30mph, but over 6000 rpm wide open.Top RPM for the motor is 5500 RPM. This is why a tachometer is a good idea. Stainless Steel props work a little better,but you need to know where you are going on the lake or river. They don't bend very easy (like AL.)and can break things.

------------------
...have fun...corm

cubic inches = power
power = speed
speed = FUN
