Hello Guys,

Went to replace the oil hose that runs from the manifold to the crankcase, and the nipple at the bottom of the manifold slid right out of the block with the hose. I'm ordering a new nipple, but was wondering what is supposed to hold it in place? Does it just seat in the block with friction or do I need to put some thing on it to hold it in place? I can put the old nipple back in, but it would just slip out again. I can feel along the tubing of the nipple that there may have been a flange of some sort that wore down. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -Jeff.

Saw 9 views but no replies. Here's another way of asking. Has anyone ever installed the oil nipple in the block on a late 70's Johnson? And if so, how did you do it?

I'm wondering if there's a nylon bushing that holds the nipple in place or if gasket sealer or JB weld is the answer. Sorry if this is a stumper. Thanks-Jeff.
