Help!! I made a commitment to try to repair a ladys boat that won't start. I found the year model and test specs for the engine, but the specs do not give me the test points to measure the resistance and voltages to determine which component is bad in the ignition system. There is no spark so I figure it is the power pack, stator, or a shorted coil. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Look for melted epoxy from stator driping on block. This engine should have 1 pack with termials, Check that all wires are on termials correct. Connect peak reading meter to termials 7&8 to check stator output 150 Volts, if volatge low disconnect wires and recheck. If check ok, replace pack. Check pack output at wires going to coil, voltage 125. These engines<br />also have problem with sensor gap being to wide.

Thanks. My dilema is that I have only a good Fluke multimeter. is there a way to check the voltages without a special piece of test equipment?. woottola

No, you can get the the DVA adapter from www.esitest.com. You can set the fluke on the AC scale and check pack output to the coils, should all be the same. The readings May be 30% or more low.
