I have a 76 Merc 850. When the throttle is in the nuetral position the neutral switch isn't made. i have to pull the control in the slighty (maybe a little more than slighty), in order to make the switch and start the engine. is this normal and or how is this adjusted?

With the throttle in the neutral position at the control box adjust the shift cable at the engine. Disconnect the shift cable at the engine, place the shift lever on the engine in neutral where the neutral switch is made and adjust the cable to match and the re attach the cable. Make miner adjustments from there until you get it preforming correctly.
