76 evinrude 6hp won't start when warm. Help!

Hi,
I picked up this little motor earlier this week, after seeing it run in a barrel! I brought it to the lake, and it started right up, and ran nice, but after stopping to fish a couple times on the lake, it became more and more diffucult to start, to the point where I could not get it to start at all (out come the paddles!). Any ideas on where to start?

Start by checking the compression and spark. If those are ok, check the fuel system, lines and connections, fuel pump and carb.
Are you using a fuel tank with a vent, is it open?
