76-77 Trim Motor...

Does anyone know the difference between the 76 and 77 trim motors?? I need one for my 76, cant find it locally, found a 3 wire one on here , but says for 77, i cant think of why it wont work on a 76, same 3 wire set up no?? I dont want to fork out the 500 bucks for the 2 wire conversion if i dont need to...any ideas?
