I have a 1975 Winner with 75hp Chrysler outboard. I am not receiving power from the ignition amplifyer to the coil so I'm pretty sure its fried. In searching for a new one, I came across one for a 90hp 4 cyl (Mines a 3 cylinder) and was wandering if I can make it work. The part number is 6CB2012B. It's a little different as the coil is bolted to the side. Also, mine is a black casing as this one looks to be aluminum. Both are the Magnapower and both are 4 wire. Dont really care if it's not a direct bolt-on, I can make it work. I just need to know, will it run the engine? If I have to, I will modify it so it will bolt up. Thanks for any help

Re: 75hp ignition

Yeah! They can be swapped, with (I think) minor wiring changes. The main difference between 3 and 4 cylinder ignition in those years was the distributor. On all types of Magna-Power ignition (EXCEPT Magna Power II which is completely different and does not use a distributor), The CD box fires every time the distributor signals it.

Re: 75hp ignition

Being a master technician on cars, that is exactly what I thought too. I do not plan on changing the distributer and will more than likely use the coil that is already on the engine(not that it matters much) Mainly though because it looks a bit bigger than the one that comes with the ign. box. My biggest hope for anything I do to the boat is to add more power. Dont know or think this will do any better, but if it does, he he! If you know any tips for more horse power without major mods I would appreciate it:D
