After fixing my full throttle problem (changed all three coils) im still having a high idle issue. I dont think my tach is working correctly so its hard to pin point the exact rpms but here in this video you can tell the idle is way high. I tried adjusting the idle speed screw but even all the way backed out nothing changes. Disconnected the linkages to see if that holding the time base in a bind but nothing changed. It seems the only way the timer will retard is by hand but it automatically moves back to the beginning position. it moves about 1/4 inch.

the carbs and throttle plates along with cam roller seem to be all in sync and not out of adjustment.

Notes when i pulled the carbs off i noticed the seal that sits in the carb bowl around the pick up tube has cracks in it so they are on order. (would this cause high idle?) i would think it was cause a bog down.

I also tried to look at the reeds and when i stuck my finger inside the engine i could push down on them and feel them bottom out then come back up.....is that normal?

My throttle linkage is acting all kind of retarded and i keep moving it back and forth but not changes so i just removed it completely and still nothing different.

I dont have any problems starting it at all and fast as i can get off the key its running.

sorry about this being scattered any questions just ask.

You could be running lean...which could cause the motor to run fast. I wouldn't run it til you fix the carbs. JMO

After listening to the video....I'm doubting that the tachometer is reading correctly. Def doesn't sound like its running 2500-3000 rpm. Sounds more like 1000-1500 to me.

just played around with it again this time off muffs and submerged in a drum. Same crap with back pressure i smell just like gas though haha.

If i make it idle low enough it does "sneeze" back through the carbs. Is there a better way to check the reeds?

as far as the tach im leaning to believe its running 1k higher

That idle seems fair to me...Not to fast or slow. Better to do it warmed up, in the water in gear to set a proper good idle.

Yes, I'm comparing my idle to a few others like it online and they seem to be close to each other. Kinda feeling stupid. Guess it just sounds so high with out anything over the engine or backpressure.

Going to launch it tomorrow I hope.

Do yourself a favor and get another tach.

Good luck with the launch.
