They didn't spend 7 hour rebuilding my 125 force engine!!!!

Tell him you know hookers who give you more of an extension for less - and tell him where he can put his !

Odds are this is a bolt on addition. Odds are you can buy the kit on the web for less - and follow the directions to install it your self.

Unless this involves breaking open the gearbox - it shouldn't be that hard.

If it does - sell your engine and put he money towards a good used engine that is the correct size.

The parts price sounds right, but no way would I spend that much on labor. That is a half-hour job for a skilled wrench and at worst, a half-day task for a shadetree mechanic.

I have a service manual for a 15 hp (same engine), if you need some photocopies I'll be happy to oblige.

You can e-mail me directly at gpz6@home.com with your postal address.

BSL

Nick,

That sounds like someone is trying to make a bunch of money. I would NOT have the guy that quoted you 750.00 do the work or even get the parts from him. It shouldnt take 7 hours to do the job. Maybe 3 at most.
If you cant find parts, email me I think I have the spacer, shaft, and maybe the water tube for a 9.9 or 15.

Best of luck,
Boat

After doing some checking - I found out this is a bolt on operation. ONe of my co workers - who is not that mechanical - did it on his. He said to make sure the kit is complete though - he had a hard time finding a kit for his - and when he did it was missing a part - that he had to have machined for him. He said the job itself wasn't that hard. His was an older 9.9 johnson/evinrude.
