Just wanted to mention that I finally got my confounded 3-cylinder 650 running pretty good. It was bogging when loading the trailer and Faztbullet mentioned the carbs were lean----he was right. I was also getting aluminum build-up on my plugs and Faztbullet said it was detonation---he was right. I now have both problems fixed and have ran the motor on 3 different fishing trips, about 9 gallons total and it has really done a nice job and the plugs are really nice looking, too. It is still a finicky rascal on idle no matter what I do but I really don't have any problems with it and it has been a good motor since fixing it. The lower unit doesn't leak and it's not too bad on gas.
I'm also still running my other merc 650 that has jb weld holding together the water jackets and I've put around 25 gallons through it and it's still doing fine.:) I may have to go get a parts motor, though, for peace of mind.
Anyway, thanks for all your help with a special thanks to Faztbullet. Very helpful, indeed!
