Hello I have a 1975 Johnson 70hp with trim and tilt. The port side cylinder is seized on the unit. I also have a newer styl complete TnT off of an 80''s 70 hp Johnson. Can I use the swivel bracket off of a newer 70 to 90 hp to enable me to install the newer TnT?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: 75 Johnson 70 TnT

Hey Glen, Probably need exact year of the mid-80's motor to make a determination.

Comparing the 75 and 85...One of the 1st things to find out is what's different about the 2 steering arms ('75: 386709 vs '85: 392517) ...the upper motor mounts are different...if that's the only difference then I think there's a shot that they're compatible. Exhaust adapter plates are also different...which mounts to the powerhead so hopefully the the steering arms are interchangeable.

So I believe if the '75 steering arm has the same length diameter, clearance/displacement around the newer bracket, spline count, spline length and thread location, then you've got a shot at compatibility.

does the '75 have a tilt-pin at the bottom of the transom brackets...and are any of the steering tube nuts exposed (as opposed to both being captive inside of those brackets?). If you have that pin and both nuts are captive, disassembling can be quite a task.
