The engine is a 75 HP Mariner 1998 2 stroke, PN 37-855211 10, sn OG721782

Starts and runs fine but occasionally when idling for awhile it looses fuel prime and dies, have to squeeze bulb to regain prime and then runs fine again. runs good at medium to high speeds. Fuel filter??? Primer bulb??? I have checked all fittings, no leaks, fuel filter is original one from 1998. Thanks.

Check your fuel pump and the tank vent or the carbs may need cleaning and adjusting.

I checked out coupler, was tight no air leak either direction, checked out filter, was fine, but I checked squeeze bulb and it was bleeding air backwards a bit steady sometimes and sometimes not after squeezing ea time, so I am thinking this may be it, I replaced that and added new good hose clamps to filter, bulb, and coupler so gonna try tomorrow on overnite sturgeon fishing trip up the sacramento river. Thanks.

Update! Squeeze bulb was the culprit, low speed operation great now, dosn't die with fuel starvation now. Had one sturgeon on for a bit in wee hrs of morning but it got smart and surfaced fast and rolled spitting hooks, but no biggie, was oversized fish anyway.

Didn't know there was such a thing as a fish too big, kind of like a girl too pretty, car too fast?
