I have a 2002 Mercury ELPTO 4 Stroke that is on a pontoon. Motor was trimmed up all the way and the battery somehow shorted out and fried and possibly caused damage to wiring and or fuses under the cowling. Have replaced the battery and have power to rest of the boat, but engine will not turn over or let the tilt/trim work. My problem is the motor is trimmed up all the way and I can't get the cowling off to look at motor. Is there anyway to let it down? Any ideas on what the problem is? Help!!!
