If the motor doesn't seize up from overheating while running, the water pump might just be working.

If the spark plugs aren't dead white, the water pump might just be working.

If you can hold your fingers on the powerhead for several seconds without permanent scars, the water pump might just be working.

you can just look at the telltale........

you have and exhaust relief ports on the upper rear of the leg, at idle you should get mist or droplets out of these ports. this is the tale tell on those motors.
