74' Evinrude Stalls after Starting

I had this boat for 10 years with no problems. This year I had trouble starting the engine so I took it to be repaired. They replaced the power pack and all the coils and it starts fine now. The new problem is that once it starts it stalls even on fast idol/warm up. I had it checked again and I had them replace the fuel pump and still didn't solve the problem. I also cleaned the tank/filter and put new hoses on it. They did a compression check and ran it in a barrel and it ran fine for them for 15 minutes at low idle. The problem is intermittent sometimes. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Does evinrude have a staitor(sp) under the flywheel like the Mercs? If so this could be it. Also, even new coils and power packs can be bad. Check them again.

If you find the answer I'd really like to know. I'm having the exact same problem with my engine. It starts fine, runs for a few seconds or longer and then dies. It's really hard to start right away but I can let it sit for a few minutes and it does the same thing all over. Email me if you find an answer.

Allen

It does have a staitor. What does a staitor do for an engine? Is it used for timing?
