When it's running pull the cowling off and have a real good look for gas leaking from a hose or needle. Sounds a little excessive as far as fuel consumption goes. Have you cleaned and set the carb. lately? Best of luck. Rick.

Check the fuel line connector o ring at the engine, and fuel lines for leaks. If the fuel pump develops a leaky diaphragm ( mine did) it can leak fuel into the engine and there will be no sign. When mine started to get "cranky" and needed the low speed needle adjusted to run well during trolling and reset to run at higher speeds, it was the first indication of the fuel pump going bad, but I lived with it for several years before I knew that was causing it. Check your compression as well because engines with stuck rings will use excessive fuel. Fortunately, a treatment with OMC engine tune-up of Valv-Tect de-carb solves that problem. If you have a gun style strobe timing light, hook it up to a 12 volt battery and check both cylinders timing with the engine running to be sure both cylinders are on the money. Your engine has points and they do go out of adjustment over time.
