74 40hp evinrude starting issues

The outboard started fine by jumping it from the selinoid to the starter. I went to put an ignition switch on it and now it wont start. I replaced the fuse and the selinod. When i replaced the selinoid and then tried to start it by jumping it to the starter all it did was spark. And now i have nothing. Please help thanks

Tommy2082 sounds like u need to take starter apart and check but just to make sure i would use a good set of jumper cables connect negative to starter frame touch positive to starter post connect other end of jumpers to a running truck battery hope this helps :joyous:
