:redface: So I have been working on a boat that i bought for $400. Got engine running a few months ago.. Removed floor bedlined under floor stringers and structure good.. Foam looked a nice clean yellow without any dirt. So New floor redone whole outside of boat.. Ordred my new seats.. Today I went to change oil..... Milky Oil.. So here is where i am at. I disconected the water line from water pump.. but garden hose on directly turned on water with a slight water coming out. I had drained all the oil and put the oil pan plug in.. With the water on it came out of flap like a slow facet. Pulled plugs no water or dirips even pulled the oil filter.... So I took out the oil pan plug and water came out. less than 2oz.. Dang it!!! I then took off the water pump.. then I noticed water dropplets was in the crank cover past the oring oil seal of the water pump. Now i am wondering if this is comon verses the oil cooler, exhaust manifold,headgaskets, and even the exchangers. Then I put the water hose on after the water pump and did the same test again putting oil pan plug back in.. Also to note i had my son turn the crank over with a ratchet. No water in the oil.. Did i Just get lucky??? Any input would be greatly apreciated.. I have folowed many posts but nothing quite like I have experienced. So If its a duplicate Sorry.... 1973 Glastron V174 Bayflite.... First thing I would do is remove, drain and pressure test the oil cooler.

well i took off the oil cooler.. i took to a machine shop and they tested it for me $20 bucks to say its fine.. I am thinking its the seal behind the water pump shaft leaking in to the cam cover.. Man I hope so..... Nothing like a kick in the junk to ruin your day!!!

i am in the same boat , in a way. i have the feeling my problem if the headgasket. But oh well , like you floor is redone and the tires are new and new bearing too. so good luck to you.

I have been searching post after post alot is said. But my experience is with cars everyone is a little different... Im hoping mine is the seal in the water pump.. The cost for just the parts for just a rebuild I about passed out.. Lol cant turn back now.. Its nice and shinney and Better than new!!!

Worked on boat today. Finished my Boxes for the seats. Tried to be energetic about the boat... So to rebuild the pump is 80 new pump is 210 cheapest if found.. used on ebay idk about used sometimes good and bad.. I am at a loss.. What about a sealed submersable sealed water pump?? Any Ideas. Atleast sealed is no spark..

I ordered the new kit for the factory water pump. New impeller seals oring. I machined a new shaft out of stainless the old shaft had a good ring groove around it. After I installed it no more water in the oil.. I guess it would be the first thing to check if a boat has been sitting a while mine was sitting for 5 years. The water pump seal rings were cracked.

What was the kit part # I have the 2 seals but I need the O-ring. Hate to hi-jack, but does anyone know the size of the O-ring between the 2 water pump shaft seals (hardware store special?)
