After replacing the water pump and taking to the lake. A joyful but irrating noise was to be found. AT full throttle it takes about three to five minutes for the buzzer to sound. The motor sound great, not missing and idles well also. At the sound of the buzzer the engine is very hot. To hot to touch without being burned.I know it is over heating, but not sure which way to go. Does a 85hp this year have a thermostat and if so where would the "dad gum thang" be located. I have a twelve year old boy who loves to fish, but now that we have the boat is tired of fishing on the bank and listening to Dad "Cuss" the boat. Please help?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Was the old pump defective? If so did you find all the pieces? If not you have other overheat problems like blown head gaskets or blockage somewhere. The thermostat housing is at the back where the hoses go to the heads. Good luck.

Change the water deflectors while you have the heads off to install new head gaskets.

Good luck!
