I just got this motor and have a question about the cooling. I see only a small amount of water coming out of the two holes on the back of the motor when its running. Everything in the water pump looks great. Is there supposed to be a stream of water coming out, or is somthing plugged.

awat11,

The older OMC outboards did not have a block drain that exited outside the cowl. The water you see coming out of the two holes is a GOOD sign and means that your water pump is working and your thermostats are open.
At idle the water will just be a spray and will become a steady stream at rpms over around 2000. One way to check is to idle the engine on muffs and hold your hand on the upper most cylinder head-I believe this to be #3. It should NOT burn your hand. The temp. should be about 140 degrees.

I agree with djohons19 put your hand on the water jacket now just touch it first so you
not get burn if it is hot.
Sould like the engine is running good.
REX A.
