I'm fairly new to boating, and surely subscribe to the hole in the water that you throw money into adage.<br /><br />As the post says, I've got a '73 85hp Merc which won't go into gear (forw or rev) until about 3/4 throttle and then it jumps in and the motor dies. Cables are good, and appear to be adjusted properly. Do I need a new lower end or am I looking at a dumb shear pin?<br /><br />Is it worth fixing?<br /><br />Thanks
