I have a 73 50hp 4cil mercury. Overheated at lake so brought home and replaced impeller which was the problem . After doing this I ran water thru muff none cameout the pee hole however it do come out the prop and around the lower unit. When I flush from the pee hole it comes out around the lower unit where it bolts to the motor. Not sure if I explained that very well. Also dripping water slowly around bottom spark plug. Not sure where to go from here.

Re: 73 500 MERCURY WATER

Welcome to iboats. :)

Try taking the telltale hose off at one end and flush it out then. It may have a chunk of something just shuttling back and forth in the hose between fittings. It's also possible that you didn't get the pipe in the pump when you remounted the gearcase.

The overheat caused that leak by the sparkplug. Chiseling the gasket off so you can replace it is a nightmare. Keep an eye on it. If it's minor enough, it'll probably lime-up and stop. Or not.
