Guys,
What is the correct tool or procedure for taking the midsection (exhaust tower) loose from the transom swivel bracket? I am needing to get it off without ruining the rubber shock mounts. I know I have to get the snap rings off, but they only come OUT and seem to be a press fit. I've gotten one off by screwing in the cover screw and prying up under it with 2 big flathead screwdrivers. But the others are incredibly stubborn.

The reason I need to do this is because my swivel bracket seems to have corroded up and is too stiff to turn without far too much force. I have a donor motor but the fin on the exhaust tower of the donor is chipped and I want it to look perfect because I have an extremely low hours motor with a lower unit I rebuilt/resealed myself that is also really nice that I've even got the stailess drive shaft from. I don't even see how the swivel bracket that you turn the motor with comes off. It looks impossible.
Anyway, if I can get the tower on the donor engine loose without tearing up the rubber mounts, I'm good to go.
Thanks,
JBJ
