72 merc 200 20hp

How strong should the stream be at idle. I didn't have one a all at idle so I serviced the water pump (gaskets, drive shaft seals, and impeller). I now have a stream at idle but it is still rather weak. Not dribbling, it is a stream just not great. Of course if I increase rpms it gets stronger. Is this normal? Does not seam to be overheating.

If you have a continuous stream at idle, my experience is that is ok. You might change the stainless cup the impeller sits in and the stainless steel face plate too as these get grooved and so lose efficiency over time.
