Hello everyone, I have been reading tach forums and can't find an answer to my prob. To start with, my brown wire(not gray) goes to the switch box, not the rectifier as per my manual diagram. Tach not working. I have read that everyone else suggest's it goes to rectifier or direct to yellow/red from stator. It appears to get the signal from the dist thru the switch box only. I have 2x checked all wiring cons and positions and I do have 4volts a/c at tach. Ground and pos to tach is good. is this a d/c versus a/c tach system, like a car? Also turning ign on or off doesn't make it jump or zero out?

So go to the rectifier and hook it up where one of the yellow wires go to.

It should zero when you turn the power on to the tach if its not running. 4VAC at tach? Should be ~12 VDC

Freemanow, what vintage tach do you have? It makes a difference as to how you hook it up. The old tachs derived the signal from the switchbox and the newer tachs derive the signal from the stator.
