I am trying to figure out what model or at least narrow it down. I have not had a chance to go look at the boat yet as it is out of town and owner is not sure. I do know it is an aluminum 1971 18 foot and I figure the previous owners did some interior design on it. Just wondered if someone might be able to give an idea on what it is? Looks like it has a fancy Minn Kota on it too. Probably worth the asking price of the boat. Can't tell which Minn Kota it is though. Thanks much.

Looks like either a center console, or possibly a Super Sport converted to a center console. Could also be a mariner.:noidea:

Looks like it had bow rails at one time.

Owner mentioned that the center console looked like it was put in and more toward the rear. It did have rails at one time. He also mentioned a Star Trek V model but not sure. I have no knowledge on a boat that old.

Hulls are identical for the 18 Star Trek V and Mariner. I would say yours is a Star Trek based in one step pad on the gunwall,(in front of the non slip). Mariners had two of them according to the pictures.

There have been very few Star Trek V's here. One as I recall was attempted. I saw one once that I considered before getting a Mariner.

You can also visit the Starcraft section to see a bunch of tin heads and their awesome work.

If its a 1971 AND the green is original, which both appear to be the case, then Star Trek V.

Oh, wait, buy it 1st, post a pix of it in your driveway, THEN all your questions shall be answered ;)

Welcome to the tin-sanity

Wow, you guys are right on top of it. Thanks for the pics and info. My only concern with the boat would be whether it would tow hard behind my Tacoma 4x4 4cylinder. I fish lakes that are off the interstate and I have towed my 16.5 Stratos glass boat with no problem. Just want to feel like I'm not over working my truck. If i get the boat I'm yanking all the wood out and putting down aluminum. I did that with a Spectrum 1709. I have access to the aluminum and it would be even lighter. I also would take the 85 Johnson off and go with another motor. I fish a couple 9.9 lakes and troll a lot. Any thoughts.

If it isnt waterlogged, I'd bet the 18ft Star Trek wouldnt be too dissimilar weight to a 16.5ft Stratos glasser.

Whats your Yota rated to tow. The Starcraft brochure link at the link 64 posted will list weight of the Star Trek.

The StarCraft Star Trek V was around 700 pounds dry I believe. My boat I run now is 550 with a 15 Rude and i can cruise at 70 on the interstate and 3rd and 4th gear on steep hills. The Stratus was about 1050 without any fuel and it had a 115 Rude on it. I think the Tacoma is rated 3500 towing. I'm thinking i will be somewhere close to the Stratus as far as weight. I pulled the Stratus to Florida and it done fine. Fine as far as no issues on keeping a good speed on the highway. You do notice some push when braking harder but it stayed under control.
On Iboats.com boat manufactures page, do they include the weight with a motor when determining the weight or the boat only dry?

NADA boat guides show the Star Trek V weight as 775 pounds for the hull, which would not include the motor and other gear.

You are now officially a TinHead. I think that's a good thing, Dave. LOL

If you start a rebuild thread over in the Starcraft group 64osby linked to, you will get help and answers from the best tin men on the WWW.

You need to show us the PO's mods to the interior.

Looks to have a few changes from the stock pic.

As soon as the weather is bearable I will post some pics. Does anyone know where you can get the bow railings for these boats? The ones on this one are missing. Don't know if they are long gone or not. If I can't find a set I will just fill in the holes and go on.
