'71 Evinrude Ski Twin 40 hp, Will it charge battery?

Just picked up a '71 Evinrude Ski Twin 40hp outboard today. Got it with an 11 gallon gas tank, 875 cold cranking amp deep cycle marine battery, control box, two anchors, and spare tire for a total of $25. Motor could not be in better shape, is in almost mint condition. Bet it has only seen water 1 or 2 times. Can post pics if wanted. My question is, Will it charge the battery? I'd assume so because it is electric start but I just wanted reassurance before I hit the water. Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

Hi John, your description sounds like the way you described the 30 HP Johnson engine I bought from you on EBAY in early December 2002 which you eventually shipped to me in March 2003, and on which I have spent about 300 bucks to get working as well as you described- hope you keep your new find off EBAY or for sale here, as I will let them know you are back<br /><br />Kirk
