Sorry, 1973 and newer is a completely different system. 1969-1971 85 & 100hp V4 ignitions are exactly same as yours. The other 1969-72 V4s had a very similar ignition with a sensor coils (instead of points) and a different amplifier. The other system will also work on yours, if you swap everything.

River rat,

What electrical parts do you have for an 1975 85hp Rude? I have a 1974 115hp and need a stator and power pack. Would also like to buy the ignition coils. Do you have this electrical system and would you consider selling it?

If so email me at arlan@pldi.net

Arlan

Re: 71 evinrude 100 ignition swap?

ajp, i've got it all but have an identical mtr. on my houseboat and would like to keep it for spares and troubleshooting purposes. the reason i wanted to swap out the ignition on the 100 was all this stuff is readily available and easy to work with. i'm probably just use to it,but it seems like a walk in the park compared to this antique bs on the 71. i'm gonna get it though, can't miss with the great folks here on this forum. what a wealth of knowledge. I'd have purchased a new mtr long ago if not for their help....river

I also have a 1969 Johnson 115hp. I am trying to get a 74 Rude 115hp going. Not sure which I will keep. I am thinking the manual shift will be more reliable for the long haul.

Arlan
