I am a new boat owner getting ready to put it in the water for the first time. the motor is a 100ESL71A, ser.# is J3509808. I have a few questions, is this motor a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, if its two, what is the proper mix ratio? I've heard this motor also stalls when it gets hot and will not restart until it cools off, has anyone heard of this before? I'm getting a manual for it soon, but would like to hear any field stories or characteristic problems with these motors. Thanks for the help.

Ahoy, Pike Slayer.

Your engine is a 4 cylinder 2 stroke, 1971.

Fuel mix is 50:1, and it will use a lot of it.

If you get hot stalling, go to www.outboardrepairs.com and look up stalls, power loss and wont start. Lots of advice there.

Wait 'til you have your manual before you work on it.

Good luck. :)
