Does anyone have any pictures of an old O'brien Mach I from the 70?s?

I want to refurbish my dad?s old ski, he got it around 1973-75. It is the red fiberglass ski with the aluminum top. I can still see the outline were the paint was. I know it was blue and red but I don?t know what part was blue and what part was red. The ski has seen a lot of weather and looks ruff now. It still skis great and I have more fun free skiing on this ski than any other. For the fun factor no other ski even comes close.

I talked to Wiley?s pro shop. They can make me new bindings just like the old ones. Not too much ether $20 each piece/ $60 total. I know a pro painter that airbrushes designs on cars and I can get him to paint the ski. This is the first ski I learned to slalom on when I was 12 and it has a lot of sentimental value.

If you can help, thanks!

Well, I found a pic on and ebay kind of site. The ski in this pic really does not look that cool or maybe it is just the back ground under the ski I don't like. I could add some custom graphics to bring the look up to date.

Here you go. Still using this ski to this day, but I need to keep losing some weight. It is only a 66". My brother and I shared this ski since 1974. Been used in fresh and salt water. Mainly salt water when it was new because our ski club was salt water based. We are the only two who can deep water start on it. No one else has ever made it up.

Edit: I notice if you keep clicking on the pics, they will get bigger.

Yes, John that is the one! Thank you for the pictures.

I see you have the original competition fin (with holes). I wish I had the original fin to put back on this one. After my dad rode the ski new one time he did not like the comp fin. He bought a standard solid fin, no holes. Mine also is a 66". I can call it mine now, my dad does not ski any more.

We are the only two who can deep water start on it. No one else has ever made it up.

I only have a few friends that can get up on it. I don?t know how he does it but one friend is about 180 lb. and he gets up on it. I have a Merc 140hp and he has to drink water for a little while until he gets up on plane.

Here is the bottom side of the one we had when I was 13 years old.

Um...EJ if you haven't tried a newer slalom ski, they have made some improvements in the last 37 years. :)

Here is another shot. They are a great looking ski.

Skibrain I have not seen one of those handles in a long time. And that looks like a nice turn for a thirteen year old.

They are a unique ski with the metal top!

Thanks for the pic.

QUOTE]I never found anything that I like more than my Mach 1 up to 1984. That's when I stopped competing. After that it didn't matter. Courses are nonexistant around here and it's hard to find a driver, second or third now a days.

Sorry to hear your skiing network has dried up.
