Dont know what year? However those switches seems to get dirty inside. Remove it from the shifter and take apart and clean. Reinstall. Its real easy. If thats not it you could have a bad soloinod switch on the engine. Dont jump the solonoid switch on those Yammies cause all you will get is sparks. They are made different inside from other solonoid switches.
