70HP Suzuki EFI vs. other four strokes

Hi all. I'm going to upgrade to four stroke power. I'd like to get a Suzuki/Johnson 70 four stroke for the EFI but hate to give up the five ponies I'd lose vs. a carbed Honda or Yamaha 75 4S (the boat's rated for 75). I've heard good things about the 70, and would like to know comparisons with the 75 four strokes or the 70HP Johnson two stroke it will be replacing. Thanks in advance. gt

Having personal experience with a Suzuki 70, you'll find that a carbed motor will not be able to match it in performance. The Suzuki has instant starting even after sitting all winter, it is so quiet you can't hardly tell its running half the time, and extremely crisp throttle response. The only problem you may have with the Suzuki is finding a close dealership. Good luck with your decision.

I've got the 70 4stroke suzuki and have been very impressed with the performance. The 75 Honda you are looking at besides being alot more expensive I believe is considerably heavier. That said my guess is the performance difference should be neglible. An EFI engine is very responsive, incredibly quiet and starts with the touch of the key since there is no choke to worry about. If you get one you will be very satisfied. Mine is on a Alumacraft Classic 16 (rated up to a 75hp) and it pulls a slalom skier easily but will troll all day without a problem.

Good luck

Hi Gary, I have a Suzuki 70 EFI and I agree with the other guys. Extremely quiet and starts right away.I sometime have to leave mine for over two months at a time and have no trouble starting it right up. Good luck.
Ron

Good luck...I'd go with the Suzuki. I have the 4hp carbed and it starts well after long sits. If Bombadier gives them a thumbs up, I'm all for them.
