70hp merc

i have an 87 70hp mercury outboard that has thrown a rod so i need a new powerhead. i found an 80hp same year powerhead all the lookin i did says they are the same head same electrical and fuel. what kinda trouble would i have if i put the 80 powerhead on the 70 lower with all the 70 electrical, carbs, and vro.

The only difference between a 70/75/80/90 is the carbs, everything you have will bolt up and will still be a 70.

cool beans, so if i find a 90 carb can i pull some hp out of the 70
