70hp Evinrude, misses at 2800rpm after overheat

Have a 96 Evinrude 70hp. Let a bunch of leaves collect around motor yesterday. Caused overheat that was sensed by the onboard senors (thank goodness for the warning buzzer). Let it cool, started up and idles great, but has a severe miss at 2800 rmp, will not open up. Any help in diagnosing this.

Check compression, compression ok, disconnect tan wire to powerpack, engine runs ok replace temp sensor. Check for burnt wires.
