Ok guys. I just bought this boat ,motor and trailer and extras for 1000 dollars. It's been covered up and not running for 2 years. We took it out yesterday and I replaced the plugs and fresh high test gas put in. It will rev nicely and start great in my driveway but we took it to the lake and had to baby it a bit. Towards the end of our two hr ride it started smoothing out a bit but every time I slow and move at an idle or at low rpms I have an alarm come on which the alarm comes from the throttle control box. Is it a high temp alarm. I'm concerned about whether its oil or water problem. Their water squirting from the pee hole but it's not a hard stream. Help if yall will. Tks

If you have gauges that tell you it is an overtemp alarm then that is what you need to be trying to fix.
Water pump kit and thermostat is where I would start on a unknown motor.

It is never good for a motor to run it for hours to see if it will get better.
Chances are it was running lean due to sitting up for a long time and things plugged up and you may have toasted a piston .
Compression test is in order now too just to make sure cylinders are still sealing properly

I've also got to replace some rotten wood in the floor and seats and the sides up front above the live well. Any ideas how this would be best done.
