Having some trouble getting the control levers to work. Took apart the control box, found the problem, but the box tipped over on the bench. Is there a manual or a diagram out there to show me how to put this back together properly? Also, I would like to know for sure which lever does what. There is a larger lever on the left and a smaller lever on the right....one for shifting and one for throttle. Which is which? Any info will be very helpful!! Thank you

The larger lever is for both throttle and shift. The small lever is for the throttle only that is used when you fire this thing off.At any rate that control box is the bane of most technicians let alone a hobbiest. My advice would be to update to the command series control.

Re: 70-71 Merc 400 cable controls.

I did receive the info and thank you very much. However, the controller I have looks quite a bit different than the one in the pics you sent. Mine is about a foot long and the guts look much different. The levers look the same though. Just trying to figure out where to set the "teeth" on the cables at....all the way forward, back or centered. I just may follow the previous advice also.

Shifter is working just right now. After a few fine adjustments and all the info provided, I actually got it to work properly!! Thanks a million, would have been lost without this forum and all the good info/advice given.
