These people were so crazy lucky, they should play the lottery. They had PFD's, but read the article to see what they didn't have. You'll understand why I put the word boaters in quotes. IMO, they weren't...

Wow, 25 miles off the coast and they didn't have any kind of emergency equipment. Hard to imagine people can be that dumb ....

Evanson said those on the boat "made the decision to abandon ship" after the engine compartment started to flood but he said they were unable to call for help because they had no emergency communications equipment.
"They didn't have a VHF radio. They didn't have an emergency position indicating radio beacon ... that can pinpoint the location of a distress when a boat sinks. There was no signaling flares, nothing," Evanson said.

Its a 38 ft boat. They must have had at least a fixed VHF and flares on the boat and they were just too stupid and panicked to grab them.

you can bet they will respect saftety requirements and the sea in a whole new way,if they ever venture out again that is.Ill bet the younger boys will be terrified of going again.maybe the older ones too!

there was a mayday goin g on here this afternoon and no one could locate. Possible "green boat" which says jon boat to me.
