7.5 Merc. vintage

I am looking at a Merc. 7.5 HP (serial#5442415) for sale. The owner says he has'nt started it in 5 years because if impeller failure. Can anyone tell me what year this motor was made and are the impellers available and reasonable as the price of the motor ($75) is tempting and I am fairly handy.

That's a 1979 2 cylinder engine. I wouldn't pay that much for one I didn't see running. At the very least, you should check for compression and spark before agreeing to anything like that price.<br /><br />Good luck!

The impellor is still available. There are two very similar impellors with different size diameter for the shaft..be sure to get correct one. In my mind the price is reasonable as long as there is good compression and spark. I work on alot of these motors and they run strong for a long long time.
